Tucks

AGE / WEIGHT: 1 year old / 50 lbs

GENDER: Male

ENERGY: Moderate

GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - TBD, Cats - TBD

BIO: I didn't come with beads or a float, but I showed up ready to have a good time. I bond fast, I love a crowd, and I'll find my way onto your couch before you even finish introductions. I've got energy when it counts and calm when it matters. I'm working on a few things — leash manners and how to be patient — but my enthusiasm is never in question. I came a long way to get here. Now I'm looking for the right krewe.

HIS FOSTER SAYS: "He wants to feel he is also part of the family. He loves putting his head on my lap and gets excited to play with toys!"

  • Originally from the USVI, he was brought to the local shelter in critical condition after being attacked by a group of dogs and abandoned by his previous owner. He was nearly septic and had injuries that required four days of emergency veterinary care. Despite the severity of his injuries, he has healed remarkably well. Traveled to Brooklyn in late March 2026.

  • Tucks didn't arrive with a float or a plunger scepter, but he did show up with the Krewe of Tucks' signature energy: big personality, zero pretension, and an immediate need to make everyone around him feel like part of the party. Named for New Orleans' most irreverent Mardi Gras krewe, Tucks the dog lives up to his namesake — he rolls in, bonds fast, and before long he's on your couch with his head in your lap like he's always belonged there.

He traveled to Brooklyn after surviving an attack that left him near death. His recovery has been remarkable — physically and otherwise. There's no wariness, no aggression, no grudge. Just a dog who wants to be where his people are, all the time.

Tucks is friendly and outgoing with new humans and builds bonds quickly. He's social with other dogs too, though his enthusiasm can get ahead of him — he gets excited at the sight of a fellow dog and can be hard to settle on leash. He's not aggressive; he just has a lot of love and is still figuring out how to pace the delivery. Crate and leash training are works in progress. Potty training is solid, though he may mark in new environments at first.

He's also a dog who just wants to be included. If you're working, he'll sit nearby. If you're on the couch, he'll be on the couch. He plays, he cuddles, and he makes himself at home with the calm confidence of someone who's never doubted he deserves to be there.

Tucks is looking for a home that's both ready to invest in his training and give him the connection he craves. The right adopter will get a loyal, entertaining, deeply attached companion in return.

  • Tucks is up-to-date on required vaccinations, and microchipped. He will be neutered prior to adoption.

He tested positive for heartworm and still requires treatment. If Tucks is adopted prior to treatment, Badass will cover the cost of care. If you think Tucks might be a good fit for your home, we can share more details regarding his heartworm treatment plan
