Meet Treasure Chest — proof that a real treasure is goofy, wiggly, and occasionally tries to fit all 40-ish pounds onto your lap. TC is a young, social, high-energy boy who’s equal parts adventurer and snugglebug. He’s curious about everything, loves making new friends (human, canine, or children at play), and will greet you with the enthusiasm of someone who’s been lost at sea for years… even if you just went to the kitchen.
He’s the “least aggressive dog” his trainer has ever met — a big-hearted softie who’d rather bounce away than start trouble. But make no mistake: this pirate still needs a captain. TC can be needy when his world changes and has been known to push boundaries with nipping, barking, or general mischief to get what he wants. He thrives with structure, exercise, and mental challenges — the kind of adopter who sees “active and smart” as a dream combo, not a red flag.
TC is crate trained, has a solid training foundation, and is making steady progress on house training. He’s friendly with other dogs, enjoys playtime, and has even cohabited peacefully with cats. Because he’s bouncy in greetings, we recommend supervising his interactions with kids, though he’s been comfortable around them in other settings.
Favorite pastimes include tug-of-war, fetch, puzzle toys, and outdoor exploring — followed by sprawling across your lap like the world’s least portable lapdog. TC will need patience and consistency during his transition to a new home, but once he settles, you’ll have a loyal, loving first mate for all of life’s adventures.
If you’ve got the time, energy, and sense of humor for a playful pup with a heart of gold, dig here — you’ve found your Treasure.

“TC loves to sit next to me while I do office work. If I'm on a Zoom call, he will put his head in the camera to say hello to everyone on the call. He will come right up to me while I write reports and offers a lot of emotional support."

Up-to-date on required vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative.
While in rescue, TC has received needed care for medical issues; while some of these have been resolved, others may require ongoing care. If you think TC might be a good fit for your home, we're happy to share a more detailed medical history.
