GENDER: Female

ENERGY: Moderate

GOOD WITH: Dogs - Maybe, Kids - Yes, Cats - No

BIO: Don’t let the pirate name fool you—Queen Anne’s Revenge (aka Annie) is more cuddle bug than cutthroat. She might demand prompt meals and claim every sunny patch in the house as her personal throne, but her reign is gentle, goofy, and absolutely full of love.

FOSTER SAYS: "She lights up during cuddle time and just hanging out with us—she’s happiest when she’s close. She's also got a fun side and loves to play around. She has some royal demands: Luxurious naps and a consistent dinner schedule. If dinner is a little late, she will let you know with a look."

  • From St. Johns (USVI), she was found abandoned in a parking lot, likely discarded after being used for breeding. Neglected and in poor condition, she received much-needed medical care before traveling to Brooklyn in early 2024.

This royal mutt is the perfect blend of couch potato and spunky adventurer. She’s got a solid dose of senior wisdom with enough pep to chase squirrels (or at least dream about it). Annie adores her humans—she’s a velcro dog through and through. Whether you’re cooking, working, or brushing your teeth, expect a squishy meatball shadow loyally by your side.

She’s excellent with people of all ages (tiny humans included), loves attention from strangers, and greets the world with a wag and a hopeful look. That said, her majesty has Opinions about other animals on leash—expect some sass and side-eye if another dog dares look her way during walks.

Annie’s hobbies include sunbathing like a burrito, cuddling with her whale plushie, purring (yes, really) when she’s content, and enthusiastically destroying chew toys with her royal jaws of steel. She’s crate trained, house trained, and totally into snack time—just keep non-edibles far out of reach, because this queen has been known to snack on the wrong kind of treasure.

If you’re looking for a hilarious, affectionate, snuggly companion with a stubborn streak and a heart of gold, Queen Anne’s Revenge would love to claim your couch—and your heart—as her own.

  • Annie is up-to-date on required vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. She was treated for heartworm and subsequently tested negative.

While Annie is in good overall health, she has received treatment for medical issues; some of these will require ongoing maintenance care. If you think Annie could be a good fit for your home, we’re happy to provide a detailed medical history.

Complete veterinary records, dating back to the time of rescue, are typically sent via email after an adoption. They can also be sent in advance of an adoption, upon request.

  • Annie is a snuggly senior who has been in rescue for over two years. Not because she’s difficult. Not because she’s unlovable. But because when she arrived, she needed us.

Annie came to rescue after a long history of neglect and poor prior care. We made a commitment to fully address her medical needs. That meant time, veterinary care, patience, and making sure she felt good. She deserved that investment.

She’s now feeling great — but another factor is quietly working against her: Annie doesn’t attend large adoption events. Big crowds of dogs are overstimulating for her, and she gets a little too enthusiastic in that environment. So while other dogs get seen weekend after weekend, Annie waits at home, missing that public exposure.

Add in the reality that she’s a senior, and it’s easy to see how she might be unintentionally overlooked.

    So we’re changing the script.

By making Annie eligible for foster-to-adopt, we’re giving someone the chance to see her where she shines: in a home. On a couch. In a cozy living room where her true personality comes out — the smile-inducing, happy little couch potato who just wants to snuggle in a sunny patch, ideally near her people.

Foster-to-adopt allows a potential adopter to bring Annie home for 2-4 weeks, giving everyone time to ensure it’s the right fit — without pressure and without guesswork.

Annie has waited long enough. We know her person is out there. Maybe they just needed a different way to find her.

If you are interested in more information, submit an adoption application noting your interest in the program and in Annie—the adoptions team can provide more details.
