Nikola Jokic
AGE / WEIGHT: 3 years old / 60 lbs
GENDER: Male
ENERGY: Moderate to active
GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - TBD, Cats - Yes
BIO: Napping on the hardwood in the middle of the room? That's my move. I'm the guy who makes the neighbors stop mid-construction to say something nice, who walks at your pace and leans against your legs when we sit outside. I'm goofy, a little clumsy, and genuinely happy to meet whoever you are — preferably one at a time so I can give you my full, undivided enthusiasm. Come find me.
HIS FOSTER SAYS: "I can’t get over how many times I’ve been stopped on a walk and told by neighbors that he’s the best foster dog I’ve had yet."

Niko was rescued from the Vidalia shelter after being found running at large and picked up by Animal Control. He had been at the shelter for nine months before being rescued. He traveled to Brooklyn in mid-April 2026.

Nikola Jokic — "Niko" — is a big, goofy, gentle soul who arrived in Brooklyn and immediately made friends with every person he crossed paths with. Construction workers. Neighbors. Strangers on the block. He has a way of showing up and making people feel like they've just met someone worth talking about.
Niko's energy is moderate and easygoing. He loves a good walk, keeps pace with his person, and is easy to redirect when something catches his eye — a bird, a rat, the usual New York cast of characters. He's been great on leash from the jump. At home, he's calm and settled: crate trained from day one, no accidents, no interest in furniture or things that aren't his. His preferred nap spot is flat on his back in the middle of the hardwood floor, ignoring every soft surface in the room. Classic.
He's friendly with other dogs — has been since before he got to Brooklyn — and tested great with cats, showing curiosity and then moving right along. He meets new people with enthusiasm, and while large crowds can get him a little overstimulated, one-on-one he's a natural: calm, sweet, and likely to sit down on your feet or lean against you like you've known each other for years.
Niko is early in his foster journey and is already showing exactly who he is: low drama, high charm, and very ready to be someone's person. He eats with enthusiasm (slow feeder recommended), and while he hasn't shown much interest in toys yet, he's made it clear he's very interested in you. -
Nikola is up-to-date on required vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm.
He has received a full health check and is currently in good health. However, we cannot make any guarantees regarding his future health or medical needs.
Complete veterinary records, dating back to the time of rescue, are typically sent via email after an adoption. They can also be sent in advance of an adoption, upon request.
