Right now I'm settling into a brand-new home, so the big city still feels loud and I'm taking walks a little at a time. The steady, cozy stuff is where I shine.

Mirabel is originally from Selma, Alabama, and first came into rescue with a littermate. She was adopted in 2021 and returned to rescue in June 2026, when her owner experienced housing instability and could no longer keep her.

Mirabel is a sweet, affectionate, people-loving dog who lights up around her humans and greets the people she trusts with a full-body wiggle. She's playful and easily delighted, with moderate energy and a lovely independent streak, thrilled to see you one minute and happily relaxing nearby the next.
She's settling into a brand-new foster home right now, and like a lot of dogs mid-transition, she's doing her decompressing out loud. City sounds can startle her, and she's still building confidence outside, so she's taking walks in small, low-pressure doses while she finds her footing. The affectionate, social dog underneath is never far from the surface; she just needs a little time and patience to get there.
She adores people of all ages and has been gentle and friendly at adoption events. She loves kids, sometimes a little too enthusiastically, so small children should be supervised while she learns that not everyone wants a full-body hello at once. With other dogs she's sociable but just as content on her own, and she does best with calm companions rather than high-energy dog-park free-for-alls, where she can get over-excited. She can live with cats with thoughtful management, though a bolting cat may tempt her to give chase.
Mirabel is crate trained and house trained, and she may need a few extra potty breaks and some patience while she learns a new routine. She knows several basics and has walked well on leash in calmer settings. She also eats and drinks fast, so a slow-feeder bowl helps her pace herself.
Underneath the current jitters is the same devoted, wiggly dog her family loved for years, and she's ready to be that dog again for someone new. -
The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs and medical history will be addressed with the adopter prior to adoption. Complete vet records will be sent shortly after adoption.
