Mero Beach

Mero Beach was rescued from a shelter in Dominica, where she arrived as a puppy alongside her mother and remained for more than two years. She traveled to the Northeast in late-June 2026 and moved into a Brooklyn foster home.

Mero Beach spent more than two years at a shelter in Dominica. She arrived as a puppy alongside her mother and stayed long after the rest of her litter had found homes. Somewhere in those two years, she became the dog everyone at the shelter gravitated toward, the one staff would point to first when asked who was special.

She just arrived in her Brooklyn foster home, and the newness of it all is doing most of the talking right now. She's wary of strangers on the street and tends to duck behind her foster when someone gets too close, but underneath that caution is a dog her foster describes as naturally friendly, entertaining, and deeply attached once she feels safe. She's already found her go-to move for attention: a gentle paw tap requesting head scratches.

Food is, hands down, the fastest route to her affections right now; she lights up at the sight of it in a way she hasn't shown toward toys yet. She's crate trained and working hard on outdoor potty training, with pee pads as her current backup. Leash skills are still in the foundation stage. Around other dogs, she's curious and watchful, content to observe from a careful distance for now.

It's still extremely early for Mero Beach, so this is a first impression, not the full picture. What two years at a shelter didn't take from her is the ability to trust again: she's resilient, she's sweet, and she's exactly the kind of dog who rewards a little patience with a whole lot of loyalty.

The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs and medical history will be addressed with the adopter prior to adoption. Complete vet records will be sent shortly after adoption.
