Maubi
AGE / WEIGHT: 4 year old / 39 lbs
GENDER: Male
ENERGY: Low to Moderate
GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - Yes, Cats - Yes
BIO: A lunch date turned into an unexpected drag show, and instead of getting rattled by the noise and the crowd, I just joined in. That's basically my whole personality: calm, easygoing, and ready for whatever the day throws at me. I'm gentle with the people I trust, I'm building a real friendship with my foster brother, and I will take a treat from literally anyone, anytime, no questions asked.
HIS FOSTER SAYS: "We met a friend and her baby for lunch this weekend we were not aware there was a drag show happening! Maubi made himself part of the show dancing with the queens we even got a picture taken!"

Maubi was rescued from the island of Dominica, where he sustained an injury to his back left knee after being hit by a car; he gets around well despite a noticeable limp. He traveled to Brooklyn in late June 2026 and moved into a foster home.

Maubi's foster took him to lunch one weekend, unaware a drag show was about to break out around them. Most dogs would find the noise and crowd a lot to handle. Maubi simply joined in, tail going, fully part of the show, picture and all. It's the clearest evidence yet of what his foster already suspected: very little rattles this dog.
He's gentle, friendly, intuitive, and eager to please, though he looks to his foster parents and foster brother before deciding how to engage with something new. He's been gentle with a baby he met and respectful with cats, backing off the moment one gave a warning hiss. He and his foster brother, Roscoe, are fast best friends who play and cuddle together, and he's slowly building trust with a more cautious foster sibling too.
Maubi has an old leg injury from being hit by a car, which causes a noticeable limp and some discomfort. He gets around fine but tends to take seated breaks a few minutes into a walk; otherwise his leash manners are good. He has a crate training foundation (treat bribery helps), and house training is still developing, with a few early accidents.
His favorite way to spend time is simple: cuddling, hanging out, and sticking close to Roscoe. He's not especially interested in toys, but he'll take any treat on offer. Maubi shares his name with a Caribbean drink that's famously bitter before it turns sweet — he skipped the bitter part. He'd do best with a patient adopter who doesn't mind a slower pace on walks and enjoys a dog who reveals how sweet he is a little at a time. -
The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs and medical history will be addressed with the adopter prior to adoption. Complete vet records will be sent shortly after adoption.
