Maubi

Maubi was rescued from the island of Dominica, where he injured his back left knee after being hit by a car; the leg was saved, and he gets around well despite a noticeable limp. He traveled to Brooklyn in late June 2026.

Maubi's foster once took him to lunch, unaware a drag show was about to break out around them. Most dogs would find the noise and crowd a lot to handle. Maubi simply joined in, tail going, fully part of the show, photo with a queen included. Very little rattles this dog.

He's gentle, friendly, and eager to please, and he's a dog's dog through and through. He and his foster brother Roscoe nap holding paws, and when another foster dog broke his leg, Maubi kept him company and delivered toys right into his cone. He'd happily share a home with another dog, though it isn't required. He's been sweet with a baby, and after one warning hiss from the resident cat, he settled into easy coexistence with cats.

An old car injury left Maubi with a noticeable limp. He gets around well but tires on long outings and isn't a fan of being carried, so a home without many flights of stairs and an easy walking pace suit him best. He's crate trained (he puts himself to bed at mealtimes and bedtime), house trained, and pretty good on leash, though street snacks need watching. He's working on bringing his great at-home manners to busier outdoor spots.

He loves car rides, curling up in a pile of laundry, and pulling every toy out of the basket to share with his dog friends; sturdy chews suit him better than plush. His favorite kind of day is simple: his people, a dog friend to orbit, and a soft place to land after a gentle walk.

The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs will be addressed prior to adoption.
