GOOD WITH: Dogs - Dogs, Kids - Yes, Cats - TBD
BIO: My namesake exists in exactly one place on Earth, and I like to think that says something about me too: I'm not exactly common. I pick things up fast, I settle in easy, and I'm the kind of guy who ends up under the table keeping you company while you work. I play hard, wrestle harder, and somehow always know the difference between my toys and yours. Rare, but easy to love.
HIS FOSTER SAYS: "He is so snuggly and loving."

Jaco Parrot was found in Dominica as a young puppy after being abandoned in a trash bin; he was in poor condition, weak and covered in ticks, when a local rescue partner took him in. He has since recovered and traveled to Brooklyn in late-June 2026.

Jaco Parrot settled into his foster home's routine almost immediately — new house, new city, new everything, and he handled it like he'd done it before. It's a fitting quality for a dog named after the red-necked amazon, a parrot found nowhere else on Earth but Dominica's mountain forests, a population that's bounced back from hurricane after hurricane without losing a step. Hard starts, it turns out, don't slow this Jaco down either.
He's an intuitive, eager-to-please guy who's learned to entertain himself and reads the room well. He's friendly and outgoing with new people, taking cues from whoever he's with, and he's playful and easygoing with other dogs. He is living with another dog and, after a short adjustment period, the two settled into wrestling and playing together comfortably. He hasn't lived with cats or young kids yet, though a babysitter who watched him briefly reported he did well with everyone she introduced him to, worth taking as an encouraging early sign rather than a confirmed fact.
Training-wise, he's building a crate training foundation and has picked up house training quickly, though he still needs to build the habit of asking to go out rather than relying on an open door. He walks pretty well on leash, especially alongside another dog, though he can pull or get startled over short distances. He's a smart dog, notably good at knowing which toys are his and which aren't, and he loves wrestling, tug, and a good chew session.
He's a snuggly, affectionate presence who likes to settle in close by while his people go about their day. Given how much he's already figured out in a short time, he's shaping up to be an easy, rewarding dog for the right home. -
