Golden

GENDER: Female

ENERGY: Moderate

GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - Yes, Cats - No

BIO: Rolling around on the floor, winning over strangers with a single soulful look, chasing a scent that only I can smell — that's basically my whole vibe. I'm a floor-wiggler and a deep-eye-contact enthusiast, and I warm up fast once I've locked eyes with you (fair warning: the eye contact gets intense). I'm a solid walker, a happy cuddler, and I've been told I'm an 'easy dog.' My nose does have opinions of its own, but hey — what artist doesn't have a little creative direction?

HER FOSTER SAYS: "She says hi and then warms up quickly by looking deep into the persons eye with strong eye contact. If she likes the person will try and go up on two legs and give a little kiss."

  • Golden was rescued from a shelter in Georgia and traveled north to Brooklyn in early April 2026.

  • Golden has a signature move: she holds eye contact until she's decided about you. Not in an intense way but in a searching, slightly soulful, deeply hound way. And when she decides you're her people, she goes upside down, wiggles across the floor with no concern for dignity whatsoever, and offers a small kiss. That's it. That's the whole pitch.

She's a seven-year-old hound mix with a gentle spirit and a moderate energy level. She’s happy to go on a real walk, equally happy to stretch out in a patch of sunlight and nap at length. Her nose does occasionally take charge on leash, leading her on stubborn, scent-motivated detours, but she's otherwise a polite and pleasant walking partner. This is a hound thing. It comes with the territory.

Golden is sweet with everyone — starting out a little reserved before warming up through meaningful eye contact and proximity. She's been noted to do well with kids of all ages when met outside the home, and she's wonderfully gentle with other dogs. Cats are a firm no; the instinct to chase is real and tested.

Crate-trained and mostly house-trained, she has a solid foundation and is picking things up quickly. Like any dog adjusting to a new chapter, there will be a learning curve as she settles. Adopters should plan for continued training and some transition time.

What she needs is fairly simple: someone who appreciates quirky, loyal, and deeply affectionate, and who doesn't mind a dog with an opinion about every smell on the sidewalk. First-time dog owners are welcome. Golden will make it look easy.

  • Golden is up-to-date on required vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. She tested positive for heartworm and has completed treatment.

While in rescue, Golden has received care for minor medical issues; while some have been resolved, we expect others to require ongoing maintenance care. If you think Golden might be a good fit for your home, we can share a more detailed medical history.

Complete veterinary records, dating back to the time of rescue, are typically sent via email after an adoption. They can also be sent in advance of an adoption, upon request.
