BIO: If you live a quieter life, love the outdoors, and believe that senior dogs deserve second chances, I might just be the one you’ve been waiting for! I’m a senior boy with a big heart and a touch of anxiety. In loud, busy environments, I sometimes struggle. But with quiet, space, and fresh air? I transform. I don’t need perfection, just someone who will meet me where I am and walk forward with me, slowly and kindly. Could that be you?

HIS FOSTER SAYS: “We took him to the dog park upstate and he loved it! We ran around and played, and he really blossomed! He was really sweet and enjoyed the time outside!”

  • Rescued from a Selma animal shelter in 2020 as a young dog and adopted quickly after arriving in Brooklyn. He was returned to Badass in late 2025 when changes in his home—specifically the addition of children—proved to be more than he could comfortably adjust to.

  • Meet Eddie Kendricks — Lemmy to his friends — a soft-hearted soul with excellent listening skills and a very big inner world.

Like his namesake, Lemmy is all about connection. He’s intuitive, deeply attached to his people, and happiest when he can be close enough to touch you (or ideally, be touching you at all times). He can be shy when meeting new folks, but once he warms up, he reveals himself as a true cuddlebug: gentle, affectionate, and eager to please.

Lemmy has always been a sensitive, emotionally tuned-in guy. He struggles with anxiety and does best in calm, predictable environments — which is why he wasn’t comfortable when young children were added to his adoptive home. Since returning to foster care, the transitions have been a lot for him, and he’s currently working through some big feelings as he settles again.

He can be barky and reactive to noises, and the intensity of city life overwhelms him — sidewalks and traffic are not his vibe. Quiet outdoor spaces, grass, and wooded areas are where Lemmy truly shines. When we took him upstate to a dog park, he absolutely blossomed: running, playing, and showing just how joyful and relaxed he can be when the world slows down.

Lemmy is smart, obedient, and eager to please. He’s crate-tolerant in structured settings, building back his house-training consistency, and making the most progress on leash in quieter areas. Routine, patience, and ongoing support will go a long way.

He does best in an adult-only home and would love a confident canine companion — other dogs have consistently helped him feel safer and more grounded. He’s also lived successfully with cats.

Lemmy isn’t a project; he’s a partnership. Give him the right environment, and he’ll give you unwavering loyalty, affection, and a whole lot of heart.

  • Lemmy is up-to-date on required vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm.

He has received a full health check and is currently in good health. However, we cannot make any guarantees regarding his future health or medical needs.

Complete veterinary records, dating back to the time of rescue, are typically sent via email after an adoption. They can also be sent in advance of an adoption, upon request.

  • After five years in a home, Eddie was recently returned to rescue. That kind of transition is hard on any dog — but especially on a sensitive one. And Eddie? He feels everything.

City noise, big changes, unfamiliar environments — they can make him anxious while he finds his footing. He’s not a “drop him anywhere and he’ll roll with it” kind of guy. He’s a thoughtful, tender-hearted soul who needs patience, predictability, and time to settle in and feel safe again.

Eddie will absolutely be an incredible companion in the right home. But he does have a few specific needs that narrow his audience:

    - He thrives in an adult-only household.
    - He needs a confident canine companion to help him feel secure.
    - He’d likely be happiest outside of a busy city environment.

That’s a particular recipe — and we know the right people are out there. They just may not realize he’s meant for them yet.

By making Eddie eligible for foster-to-adopt, we’re hoping the right adopters will take a second look. This program gives a family the opportunity to bring Eddie home and spend 2-4 weeks getting to know him and allowing him the time he needs to decompress and adjust — and allowing them to confirm the match feels right, without pressure, before making it official.

Eddie isn’t difficult. He’s discerning. He bonds deeply. He loves hard. And once he feels safe, he gives his whole heart.

Sometimes the very best dogs just need a softer landing.
