BIO: Pick a show, let me climb into your lap, and I'll happily zonk out for the evening. That's the dream: my people close, a good sniff-walk earlier in the day, and a dog friend to chase around in between. I warm up fast, and once I decide you're mine, I bat your hand for pets and don't take no for an answer. Still learning city leash walking. The snuggling I've got down cold.
HER FOSTER SAYS: "She's an equal opportunity snuggler. If you stop petting her she'll bat your hand a few times to get you to let her again, and if you don't she just walks to the next closest person and makes them let her."

Dominica was rescued from the island of Dominica. Before she was rescued, a toxic chemical was poured on her, leaving a scar along her back that has since healed. She traveled to Brooklyn in late June 2026.

Dominica is a social, curious, moderately energetic girl whose idea of a perfect day is one-third cuddling, one-third playing with her dog friends, and one-third following her nose around outside. She's a devoted snuggler who will bat your hand for more pets, and if you stop, she'll simply relocate to the next willing lap. She can startle if you approach too fast, but she warms up almost instantly: drop to a knee and she comes running, flops over, and shows you her belly. For the record, she has a truly spectacular sploot.
She's wonderful with other dogs. At the shelter she was the designated helper who put nervous newcomers at ease, and in her foster home she went from polite distance to full play in a day, with a happy, rough-and-tumble style and real respect for the senior dog's boundaries. She's good on leash but still solidifying her manners on leash around other dogs and can get a little reactive with some of them. A home ready to help her practice will suit her. High-value chews are best given a little apart from other dogs for now. Kids seem fine when she meets them out and about, though she hasn't lived with them, and cats are still unknown.
On the practical side, she's house trained and crate trained, settles happily overnight and when left alone, and is just starting to learn sit. Leash walking is a work in progress since her nose runs the show, but she's easy to manage and responds well to gentle structure. She is, admittedly, a committed diva about her food. This sweet, curious girl is ready to bring her whole affectionate self to the right home. -
The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs will be addressed prior to adoption.
A medical history can be sent to applicants and approved adopters.
Complete vet records will be sent shortly after adoption but can also be sent pre-adoption, upon request.
