Dolly PAWton
AGE / WEIGHT: 7 years old / 9 lbs
GENDER: Female
ENERGY: Low to moderate
GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - Yes, Cats - Yes
ABOUT ME: Every new room needs a proper inspection, and I take the job seriously: nose down, little prance, quick hop over the sidewalk ledge. I'm calm with new people, happy to accept pets, not one to throw myself at you. My puppy foster brother and I chase each other to the door, and the cats and I have a mutual understanding. Snacks, though? Snacks get my full attention. I found the peanut butter jar immediately.
MY FOSTER SAYS: "She minds her business but loves to explore! Not high energy by any means but paces around to try to understand her surroundings (definitely not a hide under the blankets type of gal). She also has the chihuahua prance and a cute little hop over sidewalk ledges."

Dolly PAWton was at a small shelter in Texas, at risk of euthanasia, when our team received an urgent call to help. She traveled to Brooklyn in mid-September 2026.

Dolly PAWton has a signature walk: a tidy little prance, perfected to a science, with a hop over every sidewalk ledge for good measure. She’s a small, gentle lady with moderate energy and a curious streak. Put her somewhere new and she’ll investigate every corner rather than hide under a blanket.
She’s still settling in, but early signs point to an easygoing, low-drama companion with plenty of love to give. She is calm, even a little aloof, at first. Spend a couple of minutes beside her and she warms up, happily soaking up attention and pets. During one recent stay she went from a little nervous to cozied up on the couch within a day. She’s been comfortable around kids, though they’ll need to be gentle with a dog her size.
Her social life is a highlight. She and a young puppy love to race to the door and chase each other around, and she’s handled adoption events, people and dogs included, without a fuss. She’s lived with cats and is largely unbothered by them. Big, bouncy dogs can be a lot for her, so playmates closer to her size or energy are a better fit.
On leash she’s a star. Casual, easy-paced walks suit her best. She sleeps peacefully in her crate at night and likes to hang out right beside it during the day. House training is a work in progress.
And then there are snacks. Dolly will jump for food, and within minutes of arriving she had located the puppy’s peanut butter jar. Pantry doors in her next home should plan accordingly. -
The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs and medical history will be addressed with the adopter prior to adoption. Complete vet records will be sent shortly after adoption.
