AGE / WEIGHT: 3.5 mos old / weight TBD
GENDER: Male
ENERGY: Puppy energy!
GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - Yes, Cats - TBD
ABOUT ME: Scoop me up, set me on your lap, and watch me melt. That is my whole strategy, and it works. I'm a gentle, sensitive guy who picks up on your mood, loves an easy walk, and thinks meeting new people and pups is the highlight of any day. Kids, grown-ups, other dogs: I'm a fan of a full, friendly house. A warm lap and quiet company are pretty much my whole dream.
MY FOSTER SAYS: "DJ is a very sweet, kind puppy. He loves family hugs and greeting dogs and humans in the neighborhood; every person he meets flashes a gigantic smile. He's also an extremely fast eater, devoted to making resident dog Chicha his best friend. She is still considering the offer."

DJ Tropicool was born in a foster home in early May 2026 in Selma, Alabama, part of a litter of nine puppies born after his mother was found heavily pregnant at a local shelter. He traveled to the Brooklyn area in late July 2026.

Some puppies wear you out; this one talks you into a nap. He is gentle, goofy, and remarkably tuned in, the kind of sensitive, smart dog who seems to read a room before he enters it. Pick him up and set him in your lap and he simply melts, perfectly content to be close to his person.
He is friendly and easygoing out in the world, happy to greet new people and dogs on the street without turning it into a wrestling match. He loves a game of fetch, but his real specialty is the wind-down: the moment things slow, he is angling for a lap and a good cuddle.
He is comfortable and gentle with children of all ages and would do well in a home with kids. He has been sweet and social with other dogs and would happily share a home with one, though he does not require it, and he has not spent time around cats yet.
He is crate trained and comfortable in his crate, has a house-training foundation with the usual puppy accidents, and is coming along nicely on leash, where he is easy to redirect. His one growing curiosity is countertops, so a little manners work is ahead.
The right adopter is someone who wants a devoted, gentle companion and has the time to guide a sensitive young dog through the basics. -
The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs and medical history will be addressed with the adopter prior to adoption. Complete vet records will be sent shortly after adoption.
