GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - Yes, Cats - No

BIO: The guy you saw in the wrestling ring is not who I am. I’m way sillier and friendlier! I’m a total love bug who’s always seeking out my people for some extra attention. When I’m not cuddled up with my besties, you can find me running after some of my favorite toys—I’m a very active pup who adores play time! I’m also a bit of a brainiac: I’ve mastered “sit” and am quickly learning new commands.

HIS FOSTER SAYS: “Dave is so cuddly and friendly. Even though he is 60 pounds, he seems to have no idea how big he is. He will gladly invite himself onto your lap to hang out! He is such a sweetheart with everyone and just wants to be everyone’s friend."

  • From a shelter in Selma, AL; stayed in foster there to complete treatment for heartworm. Arrived in Brooklyn in mid-July 2025.

  • Much like his namesake, Dave Bautista has range. One minute he’s a world-class nap enthusiast, snoring like a grown man and glued to your side; the next, he’s blasting into post-walk zoomies at a solid 100. There is no in-between, and honestly? That’s part of the charm.

Dave is a big, goofy sweetheart who lives for companionship. Friends coming over? Great—he’ll be the welcoming committee. Strangers on the street? Potential best friends. He’s affectionate, gentle, and deeply attached to his people, earning him full Velcro-dog status. Expect cuddles, dramatic puppy-dog eyes, and the occasional enthusiastic hug when you get home.

He’s an energetic boy and needs regular activity, especially outdoor time. Walks are a favorite, and he’s generally polite on leash with the right gear and consistency. He also loves games, fetch, and serious chew sessions (shoes and pillowcases beware—management and redirection are key). Kongs and sturdy chew toys are his love language.

Dave has lived with other dogs and generally does well, especially with clear boundaries. He can be playful, sometimes rowdy, and may get overstimulated—he responds best to confident corrections and structure. He is not a match for a home with cats and may be a bit much for very small kids due to his size and enthusiasm, though he’s shown nothing but friendly curiosity.

Crate trained, house trained, gentle with treats, and happiest when he’s right next to you, Dave Bautista isn’t here to audition—he’s here to move in, steal your couch, and become the star of your everyday life. If you’re ready for a big-hearted, high-energy goof who will choose you, Dave is ready for his next role.

  • Dave is up-to-date on required vaccinations, is neutered, and has been microchipped. He has been treated for heartworm and subsequently tested negative.

He has received a health check and we believe he is in good health. However, we cannot make any guarantees regarding future health or healthcare needs.

Complete veterinary records, dating back to the time of rescue, are typically sent via email after an adoption. They can also be sent in advance of an adoption, upon request.
