Carib Grackle
AGE / WEIGHT: 1.5 years old / 25 lbs
GENDER: Female
ENERGY: Moderate to active
GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - TBD, Cats - TBD
BIO: There's a bird with my name known for two things: being gorgeous and shamelessly stealing food off your plate. Relatable. I came in with a few scars, but I carry myself like I own the room. New guys get a quick once-over — then I warm up fast, and it's all belly rubs and squirmy cuddles. Chicken treats work every time. Still figuring out this whole house thing, but I'm worth the wait.
HER FOSTER SAYS: "She loves a cuddle and a belly rub."

Carib Grackle was found as a stray in Dominica after being hit by a car, arriving in rescue care with severe injuries. She recovered from those injuries and traveled to Brooklyn in late-June 2026.

The carib grackle is a common sight across the Caribbean: bold, glossy black, impossible to miss, and infamous for swiping food right off unattended plates. This Carib Grackle has some of that same audacity: a girl who knows exactly who she is and isn't shy about it.
She arrived with a few scars and a lot of change behind her, and these days she's a goofy, high-energy presence with a personality that fills a room. She takes new dogs in stride, going from curious to playful within a single meeting, tail wagging the whole way. With people, she takes a little more time to warm up, which tracks for a dog who's still finding her footing in a brand new country, home, and routine. Once she settles in with someone, she's all squirmy belly rubs and cuddles.
She hasn't spent time around kids yet, but has seemed neutral toward them from a distance. Cats are still an unknown. Training is a work in progress across the board: she's got a crate training foundation, is still working on leash manners, and house training hasn't clicked yet. Right now she's more comfortable going in her crate than going outside, and her foster is actively working through that with her.
A lot has changed for her fast, and it shows in how she's still finding her footing with new people even as the rest of her personality shines right through. Confident, goofy, and affectionate once she's comfortable, and food-motivated enough that a pocket of chicken treats will get you everywhere. She'd do best with an adopter who can give her a little time and space to settle in. Give her that, and she'll return it in full. -
The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs and medical history will be addressed with the adopter prior to adoption. Complete vet records will be sent shortly after adoption.
