GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - Yes, Cats - TBD

BIO: I’m basically a reality TV star without the attitude. I’m elation on four legs, and I’ve never met a stranger I didn’t want to smother with kisses. When I’m not exploring the city on "sniffy" walks or chasing tennis balls, you can find me watching the latest drama on the screen with you. I’m sweet, goofy, and ready to be your center of attention!

HER FOSTER SAYS: "She is immediately elated to meet any and everyone. She wants to be pet and smothered with love, and will give kisses right away."

  • Rescued from Texas; brought into a shelter as a puppy after she was found as a stray. Candiace arrived in Brooklyn in mid-February 2026.

  • Life with Candiace is a "more is more" experience. Like her namesake, this young starlet is charismatic, occasionally chaotic, and fundamentally believes the world is her stage. She is immediately excited to meet anyone with hands for petting or a face for kissing—and yes, she will jump to deliver those kisses because she’s a high-low kind of girl. However, once the initial press conference is over, she melts into a puddle for neck scratches and belly rubs, showing off an intuitive sweetness that balances her clumsy, goofy antics.

She is a highly intelligent and inquisitive young dog. She has recently perfected her city-girl potty training and is learning that a leash isn't just a suggestion to check out every interesting smell in the borough, she is incredibly food-motivated and eager to learn. Candiace is remarkably quiet and has already mastered the art of the crate, where she can rest comfortably for hours. She’s looking for a human who can match her moderate-to-active energy and handle her puppy shenanigans with good humor and a laugh.

Whether she’s chasing tennis balls in the park, exploring new streets, or literally sitting in front of the TV to catch the latest reunion, Candiace is a total scene-stealer. She is social and curious with other dogs, often trying to initiate play with goofy face-licks.

If you’re lucky enough to be cast as her forever co-star, prepare for a life of zero personal space and an abundance of love.

  • Candiace is up-to-date on required vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm.

While in rescue, Candiace has been receiving care for some medical issues; treatment is still in progress, but we do not expect these issues to require ongoing maintenance care once resolved. If you think Candiace Dillard Bassett might be a good fit for your home, we can share a more detailed medical history.

Complete veterinary records, dating back to the time of rescue, are typically sent via email after an adoption. They can also be sent in advance of an adoption, upon request.
