Blackberry
AGE / WEIGHT: 5 years old / 47 lbs
GENDER: Female
ENERGY: Moderate
GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - TBD, Cats - Yes
ABOUT ME: Put on a workout video and I’m in, fast feet and all. Dinner gets tippy taps too. I’m a big mush who loves pets, treats, and inviting my foster sister to play, even when I end up draped across her. The cat? Not my concern. I’m learning crate life and bathroom routines, and I’m still sniffing every inch of sidewalk. I’ve raised plenty of puppies. Turns out I play like one.
MY FOSTER SAYS: "The best moment was when I started a Zumba video, and girlfriend came running in like she was a salsa diva, ready for fast-footed action. She also has shown some great tippy taps when dinner comes around. She’s a dancing queen!"

Blackberry was found as a stray in Georgia, underweight, pregnant, and dealing with mange and skin infections; three weeks later she gave birth to a litter of 11 puppies, one of several litters she has had. Her owners declined to reclaim her. She traveled to Brooklyn in mid-October 2026.

Blackberry hears music and comes running. When her foster started a Zumba video, she arrived ready for fast-footed action, and dinnertime gets its own round of tippy taps. She’s a big, sweet mush who wants pets and especially treats. With new people she’s moving from shy to outright friendly, sometimes friendly enough to jump.
She’s an adult, but nobody told her. She plays almost like a puppy, keeps herself busy with every toy in reach, and loves a good chew, which has included a few things that weren’t hers. She also knows how to settle in for a solid snooze. She seems to be a ball girl, though fetch is still a mystery.
Her social life is going well. She constantly invites her foster’s dog to play, sometimes by climbing over her and leaving her own back half dangling, and she completely ignores the household cat. A dog sibling would be a bonus but isn’t required. She’s met kids outside the home, including a parade of trick-or-treaters on Halloween. She was a little unsure at first, then happily accepted treats from them.
She’s still settling in, so the basics are in progress. She’s smart enough to suspect the crate door might close when food goes in, so her foster is working on crate games; once inside, she settles fine. House training is a work in progress, and she does best with regular, unhurried walks. On leash she’s become a pretty good walker and a dedicated sniffer.
She spent years taking care of puppies. Now she’d like a dance partner. -
The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs and medical history will be addressed with the adopter prior to adoption. Complete vet records will be sent shortly after adoption.
