Bananaquit
AGE / WEIGHT: 2 years old / 25 lbs
GENDER: Female
ENERGY: Moderate
GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - TBD, Cats - TBD
BIO: Two resident dogs, a brand new house, zero hesitation. I gave a few polite sniffs and just kept walking like I'd always lived there. That's pretty much how I handle everything: new people, new places, no bracing required. I'll walk right up for a kiss, lean in for a cuddle the second you sit down, and treat the whole day like it's already going fine. Still getting my city legs, but so far? Easy.
HER FOSTER SAYS: "She likes to be near you while walking but also loves to sniff and sometimes starts to prance about all happy."

Bananaquit was rescued from the island of Dominica, where she was cared for by a local rescue partner; no information about her history prior to that is available. She traveled to the Northeast in mid-June 2026 and is currently in a foster home outside NYC.

Bananaquit's foster has two resident dogs, and her introduction to them lasted about as long as it takes to say hello: a few easy sniffs, and then she was simply walking alongside them, like she'd been there for years. That tells you most of what you need to know about her.
She's calm, friendly, and genuinely content, not performing it, just built that way. She's the type to walk straight up to a new person for a kiss and mean it, no warm-up period required. Cats and kids are still unknowns, since she hasn't had the chance to meet either.
On the practical side, she's off to a strong start. She's crate trained (a little help getting in, zero protest once she's there), house trained, and a pleasant walking companion who likes to stay close but isn't shy about stopping for a good sniff, sometimes with a happy little prance thrown in.
She's a cuddler at heart, genuinely loves to relax, and hasn't yet experienced city life, so her current easygoing streak should be read as a promising start rather than the finished picture. Some adjustment is normal once she settles fully into a Brooklyn home, but everyone who's met her so far says the same thing about Bananaquit: she's simply this easy. -
The dogs in our care are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered (when old enough), microchipped, and given a general health check. Immediate medical needs and medical history will be addressed with the adopter prior to adoption. Complete vet records will be sent shortly after adoption.
