Amy Madigan

AGE / WEIGHT: 10 years old / 11 lbs

GENDER: Female

ENERGY: Moderate

GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - Yes, Cats - Yes

BIO: Okay, so I may not have many teeth, but I've got smiles for days — especially when dinner's coming or my favorite person walks through the door. I'm a low-key, big-hearted homebody who takes a little time to warm up, but once I do? I'm your shadow. Your lap warmer. Your tiny neck pillow while you watch TV. I love a good cuddle session and I'm perfectly happy just being near you. Call me a late bloomer — I've figured out that life is pretty great.

HER FOSTER SAYS: “When we come home or we are about to feed her breakfast or dinner, she zooms all around smiling excitedly. Sometimes when she falls asleep (curled up like a cat!) her tongue will peek out on the side."

  • Found as a stray in Texas and brought to a local shelter. Amy traveled to Brooklyn in early-April 2026.

  • There's something quietly magnetic about Amy — the kind of dog who takes her time, sizes you up, and then, when she finally decides you're worth it, becomes completely, devotedly yours. Like an actress who spent years building her craft before landing the role that changed everything, this sweet girl is having her own quiet breakthrough moment.

She's a self-described couch potato with a goofy streak and a smile that could power a room — made even more endearing by the fact that she has no teeth to speak of. When her people come home or dinner is on its way, she zooms around with full-body excitement, tail going, gummy grin out in full force. Once the celebration wraps up, she's right back to finding the coziest spot to curl up, preferably as close to her person as possible.

She's gentle and calm with people, though she tends to gravitate toward her inner circle rather than seeking out strangers — she's selective, not shy. She's shown she can warm up to new people in group settings, which means with time and patience, her world is expanding. She's comfortable around other dogs, though she prefers the calm ones, and she lives peacefully with cats, even if she gives them a respectful amount of space.

She'll do best in a home with someone who is looking company, where she can settle in without pressure and build the kind of deep bond she's shown she is capable of. If you're the type to let a dog pick you — really, patiently pick you — this one is worth the wait.

  • Amy is up-to-date on required vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm.

While in rescue, Amy received care for some medical issues, all of which have been resolved. We do not expect these to require ongoing care. If you think Amy might be a good fit for your home, we can share a more detailed medical history.

Complete veterinary records, dating back to the time of rescue, are typically sent via email after an adoption. They can also be sent in advance of an adoption, upon request.
