Ron Funches

AGE / WEIGHT: 6 years old / 41 lbs

GENDER: Male

ENERGY: Moderate

GOOD WITH: Dogs - Yes, Kids - TBD, Cats - TBD

BIO: Ron Funches brings the laughs, the leaps, and the love. A little shy at first, this goofy, athletic guy warms up fast—zooming onto the couch, strutting toys across the room, and spinning his tail like a top when happy. Calm, curious, and endlessly sweet, Ron’s the kind of companion who turns everyday moments into a comedy show… and makes you feel like the lucky audience.

HIS FOSTER SAYS: He’s started realizing that the basket of toys is his: he carefully picks one out and trots it into another room with the cutest little strut. And our favorite moment is when he jumps right into our laps and squeezes himself in as close as possible for extra cuddles.

  • Rescued from a hoarding situation in GA; Ron arrived in Brooklyn in late-January 2026.

  • Ron Funches is exactly what you’d hope for from a dog with a comedian’s name: quietly hilarious, unexpectedly athletic, and deeply committed to cuddles once you’re in his inner circle.

Ron is doing great and continues to open up more every day. He’s a goofy, entertaining guy with a cautious side—think shy introvert who turns into a lap-seeking lovebug once he feels safe. When meeting new people, Ron may hang back at first, but give him a little time and he’ll be asking for pets, squeezing himself into laps, and reminding you that personal space is optional.

His energy level is a comfortable moderate. Ron enjoys regular walks and play, but he’s equally happy lounging on the couch or relocating toys from his basket to his favorite beds like a proud little interior designer. When he eats, his tail spins in full circles (yes, it’s as cute as it sounds), and when he’s happy, he launches himself onto furniture with surprising hops—clearly hiding some athlete genes under that sweet demeanor.

Ron is crate trained, house trained, and very food-motivated. He doesn’t know many formal commands yet, but he’s eager to learn—especially if snacks are involved. Leash walking is still a work in progress. Loud noises and unfamiliar situations can startle him, and he may zigzag or stick close behind you when nervous. With patience, consistency, and confidence-building, he’s already showing steady improvement.

Around other dogs, Ron is calm, polite, and respectful. He’s done well in group settings, mostly observing rather than diving into play—he prefers to feel things out first. Cats and kids are still TBD.

Ron is a sweet, sensitive boy who’s learning confidence every day—and whoever adopts him will feel very lucky he chose them.

  • Ron is up-to-date on required vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. He tested positive for heartworm and still requires treatment. If Ron is adopted prior to treatment, Badass will cover the cost of care. If you think Ron might be a good fit for your home, we can share more details regarding his heartworm treatment plan.
