Bluebonnet

AGE/ESTIMATED WEIGHT: 7.5 years old / 62 lbs

BIO: Ready to be besties? Let’s nip this in the bud! I’m a very sweet and sociable senior lady who’s just trying to find the perfect forever family. I love throwing around a ball, playing with my dog friends, and getting lots of pets from my favorite people. I can be a little shy at first, but once I warm up, you’ll melt at how loving I am!

PERSONALITY: Attached, Eager to please, Trainable, Inquisitive

  • Meet Bluebonnet—the wildflower who bloomed the second she landed in a real home. True to her name, she’s soft, sweet, a little shy at first… and then suddenly you’ve got a velcro flower attached to your hip, following you from the kitchen to the couch like you’re the sun she photosynthesizes with.

Bluebonnet is a mostly-moderate-energy gal who has two speeds: relaxed shadow and joyful house-zoomie tornado. She has strong shepherd instincts, so she thrives with clear boundaries and consistent rules, and she responds beautifully to structure. Once she knows the game plan, she’s confident, affectionate, and deeply attached to her people.

With humans, she warms up slowly but melts instantly when trust is earned. She observes new people and situations carefully, then steps in like a gentle, loyal companion. She’s great with dogs—playful and curious with her foster siblings, following their lead and enjoying zoomies, wrestles, and shared adventures. She’s also living successfully with cats under supervision.

Her training foundation is solid: house-trained, crate-trained, and a leash-walking angel who knows recall like a pro. She loves grooming, hikes, water, brushing, blow-drying, stuffed toys, and carrying around her comfort bone. She’s eager to learn, quick to please, and has a gentle, intuitive nature that makes her a joy to guide.

Bluebonnet came into the shelter postpartum, unsure and overwhelmed. Now she’s blossoming—loyal, affectionate, and ready to thrive in a home that gives her structure, clear rules, and plenty of love. Whoever gets this gorgeous, intelligent girl? Truly lucky.
