BIO: Ready to be besties? Let’s nip this in the bud! I’m a very sweet and sociable senior lady who’s just trying to find the perfect forever family. I love throwing around a ball, playing with my dog friends, and getting lots of pets from my favorite people. I can be a little shy at first, but once I warm up, you’ll melt at how loving I am!

FOSTER SAYS: “Blue is amazing! She loves grooming time—her favorite time of the day is when she and I step outside for a minute or two just for a quick brush. She gets wild with the attention!"

  • From a large shelter in Dallas; traveled north in early March and stayed with our boarding partner outside the city. She moved into a nearby foster home at the end of May.

  • Bluebonnet may sound like a gentle wildflower, but don’t be fooled—this girl is full German Shepherd heart wrapped in soft-petal sweetness. She’s smart, loyal, and absolutely primed to become someone’s dream dog. Once she decides you’re her person, she’ll attach like Velcro with better hair.

Initially shy, Bluebonnet warms up in a lovely “slow bloom” way: a cautious inch forward, a quick sniff, and then—once she knows you’re safe—full-body melt. She’s been wonderful with visiting adults. She has also spent time around children as young as 6 and been calm, easygoing, and appropriately gentle—letting the kids buzz around without getting jumpy, clingy, or overly interested.

Her energy is mostly moderate with spontaneous Zoomies of Joy sprinkled throughout the day. She thrives with structure and routine and has the classic shepherd working-dog instincts: attentive, eager to learn, tuned in to her people, and always trying to figure out the job of the moment. She enjoys her foster dog siblings (especially Rocket, whom she loves) and plays happily and respectfully. With cats, she’s doing well overall but is definitely a “supervise the interactions” kind of girl—curious, watchful, and still learning appropriate boundaries.

Bluebonnet is house-trained, a total leash-walking angel, and has excellent recall. Crate training is still in progress, but her enthusiasm for learning makes everything smoother. She adores grooming time, cuddling, and carrying her comfort Nylabone around like a prized possession.

She’s affectionate, intelligent, and ready to choose her person. If you’re looking for a dog who will blossom beautifully with structure and love, Bluebonnet might be your perfect wildflower.

  • Bluebonnet is up-to-date on required vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. She tested positive for heartworm and has completed treatment.

She has received a health check and we believe she is in good health. However, we cannot make any guarantees regarding future health or healthcare needs.

Complete veterinary records, dating back to the time of rescue, are typically sent via email after an adoption. They can also be sent in advance of an adoption, upon request.
