BIO: I don’t play football, but I am a pro at cuddling, comedy, and naps. I’m a sweet, gentle guy who loves meeting new people and saying hello by scooting in for a snuggle. I’m a little clumsy and sometimes miss half my dog bed when I flop down, but that’s part of my charm. I enjoy walks, big chew toys, and serious lounging. Draft me to your home?

HIS FOSTER SAYS: He loves to stand up on top of something tall! We were on a walk the other day and he hopped right on top of a big old stump and looked like a king up there.

  • From a shelter in GA; Khalil traveled to Brooklyn in mid-January 2026.

  • Khalil Shakir may share his name with a professional wide receiver, but this Kal’s skill set is all heart, charm, and elite-level cuddling. He’s a total showstopper with good looks and a goofy, slightly uncoordinated walk that makes everyone smile. Equal parts gentle and entertaining, Kal is the kind of dog who feels instantly familiar—like he’s been on your team all along.

Kal has settled into city life impressively fast and grows more confident every day. He’s curious and increasingly bold in his environment, occasionally testing his luck by investigating “previously unexplored areas,” which keeps his humans on their toes. He’s still figuring out the dimensions of his own body, leading to some clumsy, sitcom-worthy moments that only add to his charm.

He’s extremely friendly and social with people, doing wonderfully in busy, guest-filled settings and staying calm both in and out of his crate. Kal loves attention but isn’t a jumper—his preferred greeting is a slow approach followed by an enthusiastic request to snuggle. He’s attached, eager to please, and very trainable.

With other dogs, Kal is playful and optimistic, happy to walk alongside them and hopeful that everyone wants to be his friend. He’s crate trained, house trained, and continuing to improve his leash skills as his confidence grows. Kal enjoys walks, playtime, snow adventures, and long naps, and he’s ready to bring a lot of joy to whatever home is lucky enough to draft him.

  • Khalil is up-to-date on required vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm.

He has received a full health check and is currently in good health. However, we cannot make any guarantees regarding his future health or medical needs.

Complete veterinary records, dating back to the time of rescue, are typically sent via email after an adoption. They can also be sent in advance of an adoption, upon request.
